As I mentioned in the previous post, Sylvie has found a new love. I found out randomly that there was an Ultimate Air Dog, short dock, competition going on in Maumee, Ohio and decided to enter her on Sunday-for fun! Did I mention that Sylvie is a pure lake dog and has never jumped into the pool the entire two weeks we've been practicing? The cool thing about UAD is that they allow you to practice before the splashes start. On V's first jump, she ran ran ran to the end of the dock and threw on the brakes and looked at me like I was insane...so I turned her around, pointed at her duck again, and she jumped! 3 feet! Whoo! We're ready to compete, right!? On her first jump in the first splash, Sylvie jumped a huge 11 feet! Whoa! Where did that come from!? And she kept getting better! On her second jump of the day she ended up jumping her new "personal best" on a short dock- a whopping 13'2. She kept up with her great jumps throughout the next splash too-she realized what she was there for and was screaming in the crowd, trying to pull me closer to the steps that lead to the dock- she was ready!
